Pope Francis has been shepherding our Church since 2013.
Born as Jorge Mario Bergoglio in Buenos Aires, Argentina, he was ordained as a priest in 1969 and became Archbishop of Buenos Aires in 1998. In 2001 he was named a Cardinal and eventually the first Jesuit pope.
He's also the first Pope from the Americas or the Southern Hemisphere and the first Pope named Francis. He selected the name after St. Francis of Assisi, because of his special care and concern for the poor. He’s shown this time and again as he’s chosen more simple living and transportation methods than popes from the recent past.
Get this sticker and be reminded to pray for Pope Francis and all those in leadership in the Church & in our governments.
