“They Went Back by Another Way” ✨ The Epiphany’s Call to Conversion

Every encounter with Christ should change our direction.

That’s the heart of the Epiphany, and Fr. Rosko breaks it open with joy and depth in this week’s All Set for Sunday.

As we celebrate the Solemnity of the Epiphany, we’re reminded that God’s glory isn’t private. It draws the whole world in. From Isaiah’s triumphant imagery of light and return (Isaiah 60), to Paul’s revelation that everyone—Jews and Gentiles alike—are co-heirs in Christ (Ephesians 3), this Sunday bursts with spiritual light.

Highlights from the episode:

  • “Rise up in splendor!” Isaiah calls Jerusalem to shine with God’s glory, a beacon for all nations.

  • The Magi’s journey in Matthew 2 is more than historical; it’s deeply spiritual. Fr. Rosko shares how:

    • They were drawn by grace, followed faithfully, encountered Christ, and left changed.

    • “They went back by another way” is more than a route. It’s a model for the Christian life.

  • Every encounter with Jesus, especially in the Eucharist, should alter our path.

  •  Fr. Rosko connects this to daily prayer, encouraging us to seek “little flowers” (à la St. Francis de Sales) to carry God’s grace into our everyday.

The conversation also dives into epiphany traditions, from the blessing of chalk (C+M+B = Christus Mansionem Benedicat) to special epiphany water and the use of blessed salt for spiritual protection. It’s a crash course in Catholic home blessings, liturgical nerdiness, and holy hospitality.
