This Sunday reminds us that Jesus doesn’t just offer life—He leads us into a life that’s fuller than we imagined.
The Fourth Sunday of Easter brings us face-to-face with a bold, unfiltered truth: Jesus is the way—and He’s not whispering about it.
From the fiery preaching in Acts to the tender imagery of the Good Shepherd in John 10, the message is clear and consistent: Christ is central, personal, and calling you by name.
Here’s what stands out this week:
• Peter pulls no punches (Acts 2:36–41):
“The Jesus you crucified is both Lord and Christ.” Ouch. But also—hope. Because Peter immediately offers the path forward: repent, be baptized, receive the Holy Spirit. And just like that, 3,000 souls step into new life.
• Suffering isn’t meaningless (1 Peter 2:20–25):
Christ suffered without retaliation, entrusting everything to the Father. When we suffer for doing good, we’re not off-track—we’re walking with Him.
• Jesus names Himself clearly (John 10:1–10):
No riddles this time. “I am the gate.”
Not a suggestion. Not one option among many.
He is the way to salvation—and the source of abundant life.
And here’s the twist: abundance doesn’t mean ease.
As Fr. Aaron Jenkins points out, we often hear “abundant life” and imagine comfort, success, maybe a few extra vacation days. But Jesus promises something deeper: a life rooted in Him—so full that even hardship can’t empty it.
We are the sheep who wander. He is the Shepherd who calls us back—not with condemnation, but with love.
